# How would you hire a new England Manager?

On the 17th October 2016 the [Football governance in the UK was examined by parliamentary committee](http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/culture-media-and-sport-committee/news-parliament-2015/football-governance-evidence-16-17/). During this session it was questioned whether it would be legal to advertise a person specification for the England role, in this case whether they could choose to employ someone of a particular nationality.

Can you say that being English is a necessity for the position of England manager? Or would this be unnecessary and therefore illegal to require this of candidates? Would this be a case of positive discrimination?
