KPMG’s 2016 Global HR Transformation Survey found that around a quarter of employers expect cloud software to deliver greater value to their business. Nearly two thirds (63%) alo expect HR technology delivered through the cloud to improve data based recruitment decisions.
This isn’t the case for all businesses, however, who fail to embrace the advantages of the technology they’ve invested in. The good news is, a few adjustments can turn that around within 24 hours. Here’s how:-
Change your screening : Quality of hire is one of the most difficult metrics for hiring managers to measure. If you’re unhappy with the quality of applicants versus the quantity in your pipeline, adjust the filters on your applicant tracking system to introduce the use of anonymised CVs. The employment market is changing with more over 50s and over 65s in work than ever before. At the same time, not enough young people are entering the job market to fill vacancies. Adjusting your filter will allow you to recruit the best people regardless of age, gender or social background.
Allow rapid job applications : Choose recruitment software that allows people to apply to your jobs quickly and easily. Qualified candidates aren’t interested in long winded application processes that require them to repeatedly enter the same information. Monster’s new survey, World of Work, found that half of UK workers are unsettled at work and nearly a quarter searched for new jobs in the past month. Keep it simple with a registration of interest or the option for talent to apply for your vacancies using their CV or LinkedIn profile.
Share information : Only 13% of businesses in KPMG’s survey reported improved collaboration and feedback after investing in cloud technology. A simple way of improving this is to share information on key candidates through your dashboard to quickly review the progres of qualified candidates. Employee referrals – statistically the most successful source of hire – are tagged to ensure fast tracking through your recruitment funnel.
Incorporate checks : All job posts should align with your brand message and explain the benefits of working for your business. A recent post from Pizza Hut was quickly retracted after it advertised a vacancy for an ‘unwaged’ traineeship opportunity. It didn’t go unnoticed on social media, however, attracting attention for the wrong reasons. Don’t do a ‘Pizza Hut’. Advorto’s Hiring Manager portal ensures that the hiring manager has final approval over all requisitions and job posts.
Review where you’re posting job ads : Understanding which sites result in your most successful hires is vital to improve employee retention levels with one in 5 new hires now reportedly looking for a new job. Which job board or social media channel provides the highest number of qualified candidates? Begin to build up a picture with your recruitment metrics today and target future next job post accordingly.
Review your employer brand : KPMG’s survey found that despite more businesses investing in digital adoption, HR is still failing to take a strategic approach to using cloud recruitment software. Don’t blame your technology. HR needs a positive brand image and hiring philosophy to understand how to engage with and motivate its people. This translates into providing meaningful work combined with on the job training and career development opportunities to employees, a need which has become more urgent in today's post referendum environment. A poor company culture will drive away talent. Transforming a broken hiring process and employer brand requires effort and commitment. Investing in HR technology to streamline hiring processes and identify the obstacles in your talent acquisition strategy is your first step.
