Google had a bit of a bad day yesterday. Depending on whose story you believe, service was "limited to some users" because of a hold-up due to traffic being re-routed through Asia.
Whatever it was, this is not a good thing and I hope they come up with a solution. Google is a hugely influential company and is the Great Internet Gatekeeper. (Think about it: When was the last time you used a Google product? Chances are the last time you did an Internet search.)
Google provides so many services that are synonymous with Web 2.0, including YouTube, Gmail, Google Analytics, Google Maps, Google Docs, AdSense, and Blogger to name a few...
From a recruitment point of view, here are some of the possible side affects of a Google outage:
- Anyone searching for one of your jobs when they do a Google search won't find it.
- If you use Google Analytics, it can make your careers site and your blog load slowly...
- You won't be able to get through to anyone with a Google email address.
Did you experience any problems with Google yesterday? What were they and how did you handle it?

Sometimes problems do happen if Google crashes and due to this the recruitment services are "limited to some users" because of a hold-up due to traffic being re-routed through Asia.
