Facebook has hit 175 million active users in February. The online community grew by more than 600k users in a month, including adding nearly one million people in Italy and 500,000 from Spain. If Facebook were a country, it would be the 6th largest in the world. Aye yi yi!
I've definitley noticed more of my friends using Facebook recently, and the company says that it's key demographic in the UK is the over-30s.
But what does this mean for recruiting? Simply put: The more people that are there, the more reason to use it. Check out some suggestions here and here on how to get the most out of Facebook for recruiting.
But consider this, according to Hitwise, the fastest growing group of UK Twitter users is the 35-44 age group , which already accounts for 17 per cent of users.
Which brings me to my next question, are you on Twitter yet?

Hi Susanna,
You're absolutely right in stating that sites like facebook and linked in are growing fast as recruitment grounds for companies in America and the rest of the world.
We just concluded interviewing over 1400 HR Leaders across America, and realized that recruitment is increasingly going the social networking way. In fact, over 23% already look for their candidates profiles and testimonials from past employers online through Linked In.
Great Article.
Cheers!
Mark
